Dawn of the Dead (1978)

Posted on November 1, 2024November 2, 2024

9.5/10

Probably the greatest zombie movie to date in my opinion. This worked as a prompt for strategic thinking in a way that blew my mind as a kid and stuck with me since. The sheer scale of the epidemic was also crazy compared to Night and fueled many daydreams of What-Would-I-Do scenarios.
This is one of my top five movies of all time. Not perfect but definitely sacred.

Loved: the comic book approach from the father of the modern zombie and comedic presence in the flick sandwiched with over the top violence and a biker finale.

The mall as a base of resources is fun. I also liked the prison idea in Walking Dead (more so the comics than show). What would your ideal base of operations be and why?
