I see where David Gordon Green was going but I just didn’t enjoy the ride. It wasn’t cold and clinical like the original. As far as possession movies, it was fun but as an Exorcist entry, I felt like it missed the mark by a clear mile. I just felt like a side story brought front and center. Also didn’t care for the ending and the minimal priest inclusion. The original had a faith-based dilemma and this one just kinda felt flat.
Loved the actual exorcism and the demonic presence in the girls but hated the playout and how it pales in comparison to even just the vibe of the og.
