This. This is what I’m talking about. You drag a somber zombie apocalypse through a Jim Jarmusch lens, add Bill Murray and Adam Driver with a dash of Tom Waits and Chloe Sevigny and you get this wonderfully subtle yet charismatically stacked film. The idea that they address the script and theme song was meta and hilarious. The constant evening/morning was interesting as well and the zombies themselves were perfect. Iggy Pop for best zombie has my vote. Not to mention Danny Glover and Steve Buscemi in incredible performances.
Loved the horrifying sequences done softly tongue-in-cheek while the hilarity and absurdness rolls on. Hated the downfall of our heroes so simply. I feel there could’ve been a less subdued way to go but feel it was fitting for the vibe of this. The narrations by Tom Waits added a magical element to this for me.
