Dark. Bleak. Victorian. And, that’s not just my decore choices here. When Hutter’s girl gets eyed by Orlock, he puts on the charm to woo her wholesomely. She relishes the affection and happiness ensues in this lighthearted romcom based on not-Dracula.
Loved the omniscient and omnipresent horror that was Orlock’s hold over the town. Loved the degradation into madness so subtly delivered, it was like sugar in the sangria that is Nosferatu. Gimme another glass and don’t bother me til the emaciated corpse of the wicked vampire lies atop Ellen in the final shot. Boom. Vampired.
