Well. They did it. They made Candymins a daytime soap opera with sex appeal. The movie itself is not so bad but the mood and atmosphere feels like it missed the train to Candymanland. When Robitaille descendant, Caroline, invokes the mirrored ghost of her ancestor he kills a ton of people. Done and done. Clean. Neat. The rest of the movie is kinda sub par for the gravitas the subject deserves.
I’ll miss the venerable Tony Todd and his legacy. This franchise gets slightly diminished considering the lack of appreciation Candymans seemed to receive in this installment but, there was fun to be had and classic imagery to enjoy not excluding the consistent Donna D’Errico cleavage. For that, I am grateful. For the defamation of the lore, I’m less forgiving.
