I mean. Obviously this is a high score. For anyone who hasn’t seen this movie, what are you doing? Caretaking a hotel with no internet and trying to kill because alcohol ghosts?! I get it. This is a masterpiece and, although I’m a Stephen King purist, I embrace it as its own thing (we have the 90s series for accuracy’s sake). The claustrophobia in such a large place was hugely impactful for me and the impending sense of being trapped in a maze of corridors (then a maze maze) was terrific with Jack Nicholson swinging the axe.
Loved the small story in such a big jacket and the menacing supernatural entities behind the veil. Hated that it was so removed from the book that King himself doesn’t understand the changes. I get the alterations but it would’ve been cooler to reconcile those gaps pre Doctor Sleep.
