This reboot brings Jason Voorhees back with a vengeance and possibly a gym membership, because this version of Jason looks like he’s been lifting canoes for sport. The film hits all the right horror beats: doomed campers, spooky woods, and a general sense that everyone should’ve just stayed home and watched Golden Girls with a nice pitcher of sangria instead.
It’s fast, loud, and unapologetically fun, like me doing karaoke. Sure, the plot might not reinvent the machete, but it definitely sharpens it to a deadly point. By the time the final girl is running for her life, you’ll be cheering, laughing, and maybe, if you’re like me, vomiting sangria by the end of the night. It’s the perfect movie for anyone who likes their horror served cold, their nostalgia strong, and their sangria room temp.
